On Wednesday we continued our journey and headed toward the Icefields Parkway. We crossed over the border into Canada and later made it into the National Park area. The magnificent Canadian Rockies surrounded us as we traveled. We stayed the night in the Lake Louise area. After dinner we went to see Lake Louise, hoping to avoid the crowds. During the day they say that there are LOTS of people there, making parking and walking around and viewing the lake more difficult [at least not quite as enjoyable]. It is supposed to be one of the most photographed places in the world! After having been there it is easy to see why . . . . it was so beautiful!
On Thursday we left our hotel at Lake Louise and continued up the parkway. Early in the day, there were a lot of low lying clowds that blocked some of the vew. As we travelled though, we were able to see numerous glaciers. We stopped at the Columbia Icefields, where we hiked up to and actually walked on part of that glacier. It was there that we turned around and travelled back down the parkway toward Banff where we stayed the night.
On Friday we "headed for the border". When we left it was 44 degrees and raining. It was definitely bone-chilling for the first few hours of the day. This would have been a great time to have had all the heated gear [jacket, pants & gloves] that we left in Jim's bike! We made our way back to White Fish Montana and hope to pick up Jim's bike later this morning. We are still pondering our next step on the journey!
