I wasn't quite ready for our scheduled 6:30 a.m. departure time . . . so I ran us a little late leaving [5:30 comes pretty early you know]. Thankfully the Guys didn't get too upset with me! We pulled out about 7:00 a.m.; 65 degrees and a little misting rain. We put on our rain suits as we expected to run into some heavier rain. "The navigator" [Raymond] did a great job avoiding the rain clouds until the skies completely cleared up. Another great day of riding!
We made good time and pulled into The Badlands National Park by 1:00 p.m. We stopped for lunch right after entering the park and then took time riding through, seeing the amazing Badland formations. It was just an additional 50 mile ride to get to Rapid City [South Dakota] where we will be staying for the next three nights [and I am VERY happy to have a place to call "home" for a few days]. We plan to go to the motorcycle rally in the morning to see some of the vendors. After that we want to spend time riding some of the fabulous roads in the area. Some of the best motorcycle roads I have ever ridden on are here in the area around Sturgis. Haven't checked the weather yet, but certainly hope that we won't have rain. Twisty roads are LOTS of fun when riding on a motorcycle but twisty WET roads aren't any fun at all!
